Ruth Behan, a niece of the Irish playwright Brendan Behan, is a founder member of the band who bravely set out to meet a bunch of strange blokes in a lonely cowshed back in 1991. Her fiddle has been a mainstay of the band’s sound ever since, weaving traditional Irish jigs and reels into the earlier material, and more recently incorporating Bluegrass and Old Time techniques into the songs.
In her spare time she also writes, and was published in 2019 in ‘Common People’, an anthology of working-class writers edited by Kit de Waal.
Ruth also gives Fiddle lessons – you can get in touch with her directly on the Contact tab, or look her up on Facebook.
